Our breast cancer support group welcomes women in any phase of their breast cancer experience. Our board of directors are primarily survivors and experienced in patient care and advocacy. Our Board of Directors
Valerie is a native of Los Angeles who hails from the city of Inglewood. She is retired and a former Federal Employee. Having worked for both the IRS and the U.S. Postal Service some 30+ years. Her knowledge, attributes and keen secretarial skillset has made her the go to person in our organization.
She is a family oriented, reliable, confident and well-organized, with extensive experience in supporting mid and senior-level managers by providing them with consistent conscientious viable support. A highly motivated individual who exemplifies a willingness to make a positive mark in community service and the sustainability of our organization.
Edna is a native of Los Angeles and a recent graduate of California State University Long Beach. Having earned her Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, she currently volunteers to provide free legal services at the Community Free Legal Clinic while pursing her law degree at Loyola Marymount University. Edna has worked for EEOC for more than 15 years. She is a multi-talented and task oriented individual, who has served to make a difference in the lives of women at My Sister My Friend BCS. Edna is also a breast cancer survivor who has made instrumental contributions to the group's programs and services. She is truly dedicated to making an impact, paying it forward and making a huge impact on the lives of others.
Toni Traylor, BSN, RN
Toni Traylor hails to us from the city of Compton, CA. and currently resides in Fontana, CA. She has made enumerable contributions to our team. She earned her Bachelors in Nursing by way of California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson California. She currently works at Kaiser Permanente, Sunset, where she tends to the critical needs of children in Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit. Toni has worked in patient care for more than 18 years, having begun her career as a Nurse at King-Drew hospital in south central Los Angeles. She has been an advocate in total patient care and understands the needs of families which is critical to the populations she serves. She can also speak to the need for representation, cultural competence in healthcare and access to care.
Tracy Fairbanks is a native of the South Bay area and currently resides in Carson, CA. She is a Community Program Manager for Kinecta Federal Credit Union with over 20 years experience in Marketing and Community Programs. Aside from her marketing background, her position allows her to be of assistance to others through financial education and community initiatives including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Mychal’s Learning Place, Richstone Family Center, Kinecta’s annual food drives, scholarship programs, back-to-school drives and others.
Diagnosed with Stage IIB Breast Cancer at the age of 40, Tracy underwent 16-rounds of chemotherapy, a mastectomy, thirty-one treatments of radiation and several reconstructive surgeries all while continuing to work full-time. Since her breast cancer diagnosis, she is even more passionate for breast cancer awareness and advocacy.
